Dependants' funding: To assist a student in supporting dependant family members while they are in the study country, an ‘accompanied’ stipend rate may be paid to the student. Eligibility criteria must be met before any NZAID funding for dependants is approved. The student's immediate family members must be listed on the original NZRDS application form and the student must have at least 12 months of their scholarship remaining to receive the higher rate of stipend. No assistance is available from NZAID to assist with family members’ airfares.
NZAID funding may not cover all living costs. NZRDS students and their families must carefully consider the costs of supporting a family in the study country. Students may need to supplement the stipend with their own funds to cover items on top of basic day-to-day living expenses.
