NZAID, as the Government's agency responsible for administering New Zealand's official development assistance, works with a variety of partners towards achieving its objectives. Such partners vary from governments, regional and multilateral agencies, as well as civil society, non-government organisations (NGOs), community groups, private sector organisations, and individual consultants and contractors.
NZAID uses a range of contracting and funding arrangements in the delivery of official development assistance initiatives and activities. Direct assistance aims to help communities and individuals to fulfil their basic needs, for example providing grant funding for a community health project. Indirect assistance aims at creating and sustaining social, cultural, environmental and economic conditions conducive to the reduction of poverty, for example: contracting a technical advisor to provide capacity building and institutional strengthening.
NZAID's contracting processes follow government procurement guidelines. These processes are designed to ensure the efficient and effective use of public monies, as well as promoting open and effective competition, ethics, fair dealing, accountability and reporting.
Should you feel dissatisfied with a procurement process, please advise the person at NZAID you have been dealing with or advise the Manager, Contracts Team, email us. We will respond to you accordingly.
