By raising the profile of Fair Trade in New Zealand, NZAID aims to provide greater market opportunities for disadvantaged producers in developing countries. Part of raising the profile has involved developing a Fair Trade logo, which enables consumers to identify the genuine product. This has been jointly developed with Oxfam New Zealand and Trade Aid and the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ). FTAANZ provides information and advice to organisations wishing to obtain Fair Trade certification and also introduces new Fair Trade products into the New Zealand market.
By linking in with existing Fair Trade promoters, NZAID is able to provide financial and strategic assistance to raising the profile of Fair Trade. In 2005 this culminated in the Fair Trade Fortnight, a joint effort that saw an increase in purchase of Fair Trade certified products.
