NZAID's Trade and Development programme provides support to two International Finance Corporation (IFC) private-sector development facilities:

  • The Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF), operating in Viet Nam , Cambodia and Laos PDR.
  • The IFC-PENSA facility, operating in Indonesia.

These facilities operate a range of programmes intended to:

  • Improve the regulatory and legal environment for small and medium-sized businesses by providing advisory services and capacity-building to government agencies and regulators
  • Increase access to finance and financial services for small businesses, through strengthening the financial sector
  • Increase access to basic infrastructure through assisting in planning, improving relevant legal and regulatory frameworks and strengthening infrastructure policy, as well as supporting specific infrastructure projects
  • Increasing value-add in supply chains by providing finance, infrastructure and training to help businesses build capacity and move up the value chain to produce greater value-add products.
