Empower's counterpart for the project is the Indonesian NGO, Lembaga Tumbuh Alami, who have identified the need for this assignment through working with local farmers. If the feasibility proves successful, ADAF will fund the implementation phase of the project. The geothermal technology would be primarily used for incubation of chicken and duck eggs, and will assist poor farmers to improve their productivity and incomes. China : Development of Small Holding Pasture, Guzngxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Grantee : ChinzCo Grant Value : $499,846 Timeframe : September 2004 to February 2007 The goal is to improve the wellbeing of smallholders in selected karst limestone areas of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region by piloting smallholder farmers to adopt sustainable livelihood strategies that meet their basic needs. Smallholders in an initial four communities will be introduced to the Integrated Land Utilisation System approach and practices through participation in programmes. Viet Nam : Poverty Impacts of Rural Electrification Grantee: Empower Consultants Limited Grant Value: $481,606 Timeframe: February 2001 to November 2009 The goal of this assignment is to improve the identification, scoping, delivery and evaluation of sub-projects under rural electrification programmes in Viet Nam so that the poor benefit more directly. The objective is to provide a research based report and methodology that will be used for targeting current and future rural electrification programmes to assist in poverty reduction.
