Stage A of this assignment provided a technical, social, environmental and financial feasibility study relating to the provision of a multi-purpose hydro-electric and irrigation scheme on the Siffu River , in the Paracelis Muncipality, Central Autonomous Cordillera, Philippines . The proposed project that the feasibility relates to involved constructing a 50 metre dam on the Siffu River to permit generation of an estimated 3.8 MW of electricity and water storage that would bring a further 108 hectares of land under irrigated cultivation and provide water for the irrigation command area during the dry season.

This assignment provided rural communities throughout Sri Lanka with increased access to safe water and adequate sanitation systems. It aimed to improve acceptance of Rain Water Harvesting (especially in areas where RWH represents the only viable source of safe drinking water); develop a user-oriented system of water quality testing to improve the safety and management of rural community water supply systems; and establish and incorporate lessons learnt from previous activities into a Community Based Organisation management of their water supply and sanitation facilities thereby ensuring sustainability of the systems.

This assignment aimed to develop a replicable approach for the investigation, planning and design requirements for appropriate water supply and sanitation systems for district towns in Sri Lanka . This approach formed the basis of a water and sanitation project, covering five district towns, that was to be submitted by the Sri Lanka government's National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) for funding under Danida's Mixed Credit Programme for Developing Countries. Preliminary engineering designs and drawings were produced as were procurement materials and construction specifications, work, materials and equipment scheduling and quantity estimate and project costings.

The aim of this assignment was to help fulfil basic needs and contribute to the sustainable livelihoods of the communities in Central Viet Nam by reducing the loss of life and property during flood events, through increasing their understanding of flood hazards and preparedness. This involved preparation of publicity materials for public awareness and preparedness campaigns on flood hazards; a pilot programme of public awareness and preparedness of flood hazards; a training seminar for 160 officials involved in flood and storm control on flood hazards; a study tour for three officials and an interpreter involved in flood and storm control; installation of flood warning towers and provision of relief equipment; installation of flood measuring posts and historical flood markers along with a set of preliminary food hazard and extent maps.

This assignment aimed to demonstrate the use and benefits of hybrid wind/ diesel systems for the provision of quality electricity supplies to remote communities without power, and to provide a managerial and technical template for replication of the systems. The intention was to reduce costs per kilowatt-hour of electricity for poor and isolated villages (barangays) by minimising the use of diesel fuel wherever wind energy is available. The barangay of Malaguicay in Leyte Province , which has the required wind resource, was selected as a target group.
The local counterpart for the project is the PNOC Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDC), who were to continue the electrification process using the new system.

In partnership with the China National Institute of Education Research and the China Ministry of Education, CNZET facilitated, monitored and evaluated the development of training guidelines and parent resources for early childhood education in China . The Guidelines were to be based on the New Zealand early childhood education model of holistic learning and teaching that includes parents as participants in their child's learning and thus parents as recipients of education as an integral part of the process. The proposed model of early childhood education has been identified with alleviating disadvantage by increasing children's ability and readiness to learn and expanding parents' knowledge of health, nutrition and education needs of their children.
