Executive Director's Group

Along with the executive director and the executive assistant, NZAID’s Executive Director’s Group is responsible for human resources management and professional development.

NZAID’s internal and external communications programmes, including media relations and publications is the other key cross-agency area that reports directly to the head of the agency.

Pacific Group

The Pacific Group manages NZAID’s policy, strategy and development programmes in the Pacific. This includes the overall strategic direction of NZAID’s assistance to the region, policy advice on Pacific development issues, and management of 11 core bilateral development relationships.

The Pacific Group also engages with, and provides assistance to a number of Pacific regional agencies, and manages five thematic regional programmes in the areas of education, health, environment, governance, fisheries, and trade and economics.

Management of NZAID’s emergency and disaster response in the Pacific is also the responsibility of the Pacific Group.

The Pacific Group is managing a programme budget of $158.5 million in 2005/06, or approximately half of NZAID’s overall programme budget.

Global Group

Reflecting NZAID’s mission to eliminate poverty , NZAID’s Global Group is responsible for regional and bilateral programmes in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The group manages NZAID’s relationships with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), multilateral agencies (including selected international NGOs) and New Zealand civil society.

The Global Group contributes to international efforts to address complex emergencies, with particular focus on Afghanistan, Iraq and Sudan, and also contributes to international efforts to address the impact of natural disasters in developing countries.

Oversight and implementation of NZAID’s Trade and Development Policy is also the responsibility of NZAID’s Global Group.

In 2005/06 the Global Group’s programme budget is $160,585 million, or 50 per cent of NZAID’s overall programme budget.

Strategy, Advisory and Evaluation Group | SAEG

NZAID’s Strategy, Advisory and Evaluation Group supports the development of programme strategies and the design of new activities. One of the Group’s key functions is to engage with programme areas by providing policy, strategic and programming advice.

SAEG facilitates integration of good practice in international development including contributing to international forums and engaging with development academics, research providers and civil society.

The group also coordinates agency-wide engagement with the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Aid Effectiveness agenda.

Management Services Group

NZAID’s Management Services Group is responsible for contracting, finance, records management, information systems and the administration of NZAID’s scholarships programme.

The group also oversees compliance with public sector accountability requirements and provides advice to programme managers on achieving effective outcomes through an independent audit process.

Maintaining and providing accurate and timely information to key stakeholders including the Government, MFAT and the OECD Development Assistance Committee is another key function of the Management Services Group, as well as improving programme support functions to improve quality, customer service and business outcomes.
